GREAT BAY, St. Maarten (Wednesday, August 8, 2012)-The Charlotte Brookson Academy has started their intensive 2 week teachers training on Monday, August 6 at the University of St.Maarten. In this regards, AVS News stopped by during the training to see how things were going, and spoke to the director of the UJIMA Foundation, Judith Bell who elaborated more on subject.

“The Charlotte Brookson Academy teacher’s training started yesterday and it is a 2 week intensive training for the staff whether they are academic teachers or the performance arts teachers”. Bell further said that they are amazed with the amount of registrants they received. “We are a new school, who hasn’t opened as yet, and we have had over 100 applications” she said. She also added that core subjects will be taught at the school. We also, spoke to the dean of academics Glen Yeung, who explained how the cooperation between the Charlotte Brookson Academy, and the University of St.Maarten transpired and gave his opinion on the situation. “The cooperation started over a 2 year period, we’ve been back and forth trying to find some sort of common ground”. “We had our challenges, and so did they, and finally with the intervention of the ministry of Education, we saw the light, and came to a consensus on how we can best help further the application, and we believe there is a place for UJIMA.
