GREAT BAY, St. Maarten (Monday, July 23, 2012) – Independent Member of Parliament Patrick Illidge, and DP Faction, Member of Parliament Roy Marlin held a press Conference this morning at the Parliament Building to discuss issues surrounding the land surveying department Cadastre. They also clarified a report that was published in the Today newspaper of Tuesday July 17th regarding an argument that took place between both the members of Parliament and director of the Cadastre Clemens Roos. Illidge explained the situation that took place at the Cadastre; “Roberto initiated the talks, he started to give a history of the built up of everything, and then Mr. Roos proceeded to speak and say his Part”.
“On the onset, he mentioned that he did not see the need of Roberto bringing along 2 more parliamentarians with him”. “I let him speak, and when it was my opportunity to speak, I said sir I’m not here as a Member of Parliament, but as a former minister that initiated this project for the people”. “I am here as a citizen and as a family member of Roberto, seeing the fact of his health condition”. He continued; “At a particular point in time, things got tense”. MP Patrick Illidge further said that he agrees that some people have to get their act together, and that he will not tolerate anything that takes advantage of his people. “If it means that I have to revisit the Cadastre office for another problem, then so be it.”
