ST. MAARTEN TO PARTICIPATE IN DUTCH CARIBBEAN COMPETITION |

GREAT BAY, St. Maarten (June 29, 2012)- The St. Maarten Amateur Athletic Association has been invited to take part in the Dutch Caribbean Youth Age Group Competition. This event will be held in Aruba, starting Thursday June 28th to July2nd 2012. Competing are teams from Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire, Suriname and St. Maarten. In this regards AVS News spoke to Les Brown on Wednesday at the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex where he elaborated on St. Maarten’s participation. “We are trying to promote the group that is going to Aruba, and we are expecting lot from the players”. `The Reason for participating is to give the youth of St. Maarten the opportunity to meet friends, compete, and compare sporting levels and exchange ideas while developing their talents and skills while maintaining the Dutch heritage. This program and many others such as this one, also caters towards a concept put in place by the International Amateur Athletic Federation, making sure of sustainable development in the sport of Track & Field in the world. It is a fact that athletes who win in these program usually go on to become world best sports male & Female if they continue to receive the necessary support. Athletes will be competing in various events, such as, the 100 Meters, 600 meters, Long jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 50 Hurdles and ball throw.
