WHAT an evening it was last night for Chloe Jones at Graduate Fashion Week - the Bath Spa University fashion graduate not only walked away with this year's womenswear accolade but also won the highly prestigious Gold award, pocketing herself £20,000 in the process. Not a bad start for a brand new kid on the block.
But she wasn't the only one celebrating - Edinburgh College of Art student Riona Horrox scooped the menswear prize for the night with her oversized denim, super furry hoodies and flame shirt combinations. It was cool, urban and clever. Jones' womenswear, meanwhile, had a monastic twist with encrusted and bejewelled sweatshirt hoodies that descended into flowing printed skirts to echo the silhouette of the veils falling from above. It was another very clever collection and one that had the fashion pack audience - not to mention judges Daphne Guinness and Suzy Menkes - entirely won over.
